Chevy Silverado Durabed

With its array of next-gen features, the all-new 2019 Silverado 1500 is definitely impressive. Particularly notable, however, is the 2019 Silverado’s updated truck bed. It boasts best-in-class cargo volume, box depth, and box length at floor, making it the largest pickup bed out there. Recognizing the importance of a pickup truck’s bed, Chevy engineers designed the Silverado’s new Durabed to beat out its competition across the board.
For the first time, the Silverado’s bed will be called “Durabed.” As Tim Herrick, the executive chief engineer of Full-Size Trucks, noted, “We’ve added so many features and benefits that it deserves its own name – Durabed.” Cargo box space grew by at least 10 cu-ft from the 2018 model year, making the short-box’s cargo volume as much as 20% more than competitors’ box volume. The 2019 Durabed is constructed with 500-megapascal high-strength steel, making it stronger than both the 2019 Ford F-Series’ and Ram 1500’s bed.
The all-new bed’s features don’t end there, as the Silverado’s Durabed also offers a segment-leading 12 fixed tie-downs, an industry-exclusive power up/down tailgate, and the GM-exclusive CornerStep bumpers. The strength of the Silverado’s tie-downs has increased two-fold, as they are now able to take 500 pounds of force compared to the previous generation’s 250 pounds. To increase cargo capability and flexibility even further, the 2019 Silverado offers nine additional moveable tie-down points, leading the new Silverado to boast the most tie-downs of any full-size pickup truck.
